Playtest build 0.6.1 (2D removed) Pre-release
released this
2026-10-03 10:15:43 -04:00 | 46 commits to main since this releaseSame 3D tech preview content as 0.6.0 (WASD + mouse-look + pickup in the test room), but the old 2D game has been removed and the main menu is back to a single Play button pointing straight at the 3D test room.
If you downloaded 0.6.0 directly or via the launcher, you were still seeing the old two-button menu (Play -> 2D Armory, 3D Test (WIP) -> test room) since that cleanup hadn't been packaged into a release yet - this build is the fix for that.
Windows x86_64 build attached below. Built with Godot 4.7.2.

Playtest build 0.6.0 (3D tech preview - Phase A) Pre-release
released this
2026-10-03 00:05:18 -04:00 | 48 commits to main since this releaseFirst step of a full transition to first-person 3D gameplay. This build does NOT change the actual game - Armory/Treasury are still the normal 2D click-drag-drop experience behind the regular Play button.
What's new: a 3D Test (WIP) button on the main menu. It drops you into a small lit test room with WASD movement, mouse-look, and a single pickup-able box - look at it and press E to pick up, E again to drop. This is purely a tech preview of the new first-person controller and interact system that the real areas will be rebuilt on top of in upcoming builds.
Escape still opens the pause menu as usual.
Windows x86_64 build attached below. Built with Godot 4.7.2. Grab it through the launcher or download directly.

Playtest build 0.5.0 (sound effects) Pre-release
released this
2026-10-02 23:45:41 -04:00 | 50 commits to main since this releaseAdds sound effects: pickup, drop/miss, snap, and area-complete fanfare. These are simple procedurally-generated placeholder tones (sine waves, not real sound design) - same spirit as the flat-color placeholder art, just filling the gap until real audio exists.
Everything else is unchanged from 0.4.0: menu, pause, two areas with progression/save, physics, item collision.
Windows x86_64 build attached below. Built with Godot 4.7.2. Grab it through the launcher (launcher-v1) and it'll update automatically, or download directly as before.

Launcher v1 Stable
released this
2026-10-02 23:30:58 -04:00 | 54 commits to main since this releaseDownload once, keep forever. Every time you run this, it checks our releases for the newest game build, downloads it automatically if there is one, then launches the game. No more manually grabbing a new executable for every playtest build.
The actual game files land in a
game/folder next to wherever you put this exe — safe to move the whole folder around together. This is a separate release line from the game itself (
playtest-X.Y.Z). The launcher only needs updating when its own code changes, which should be rare; the game updates automatically every time you run it.Windows x86_64. Built with Godot 4.7.2.

2026-10-02 13:12:31 -04:00 | 56 commits to main since this releaseBig one: the game now has a real main menu and pause menu, and a second area to progress to.
- Main menu on launch: Play / Quit
- Escape opens the pause menu mid-game: Resume / Quit to Menu
- Complete the Armory (all 9 items placed) and a Continue button appears — press it to move on to the Treasury (5 new items: Crown, Gem, Coin Pile, Trophy, Scroll, on a distinct indigo-floored room)
- Complete the Treasury and you loop back to the start, returned to the main menu
- Progress saves to disk — close the game and relaunch, Play resumes wherever you left off
Still placeholder art throughout. Windows x86_64 build attached below. Built with Godot 4.7.2.

Playtest build 0.3.1 (item-to-item collision) Pre-release
released this
2026-10-02 12:44:47 -04:00 | 58 commits to main since this releaseItems now physically collide with each other instead of overlapping/passing through. Drop two pieces close together and they'll bump and push apart rather than clipping through one another. Same 9 items and mechanics as 0.3.0 otherwise.

Playtest build 0.3.0 (9 items - wall of gear) Pre-release
released this
2026-10-02 11:01:24 -04:00 | 60 commits to main since this releaseScales up from 3 items to 9: Sword, Axe, Dagger, Bow (weapons) and Shield, Helmet, Chestplate, Boots, Gauntlets (armor), all laid out along a widened playfield (1600px). Same mechanics as before - drag each piece onto its matching stand, items fall/settle under gravity if you miss, win overlay once all 9 are placed.
Still placeholder art (flat colored boxes, sized/colored differently per item so they're distinguishable) - this build is about testing whether the game holds up with more content, not visuals.

released this
2026-10-02 00:59:01 -04:00 | 62 commits to main since this releaseRe-ships the same gravity/drop physics feature as 0.2.0 (issue #14) from a fresh export. 0.2.0 had items staying frozen instead of falling on at least one Windows machine; a diagnostic build with identical item/physics code (just added logging) worked correctly, pointing at 0.2.0 being a one-off bad/stale export rather than a real bug. This is a clean re-export of the exact same main-branch code.
Please confirm items fall under gravity at scene start this time. If they still don't, that rules out "bad export" and we'll dig into root cause properly.

Playtest build 0.2.0 (gravity/drop physics) Pre-release
released this
2026-10-01 23:17:41 -04:00 | 62 commits to main since this releaseNew feature: items now react to gravity. Drop one away from its stand and it falls and settles on the floor with a little bounce instead of just stopping wherever you let go. Dragging still works the same as before (pick up, move, release); dropping onto the correct stand snaps and locks it in place as usual.
Also includes the two fixes from 0.1.1/0.1.2 (clicking works, overlay no longer blocks un-placing items after a win).

released this
2026-10-01 23:12:21 -04:00 | 64 commits to main since this releaseFixes a bug found in 0.1.1: once all three items were placed, the win overlay (a full-screen Control) silently blocked every click underneath it, so there was no way to pick an item back up or undo a placement after winning. Same root cause class as the 0.1.1 click fix, just one more node that needed it.
