project-awry
A single-player cleanup/organization sim in the vein of Unpacking and PowerWash Simulator. Something knocked every weapon and piece of armor off their stands in the armory — put it all back where it belongs.
Status
Mid-transition from a 2D top-down puzzle to a first-person 3D game — the old 2D version has been removed. Currently playable: a first-person controller (WASD + mouse-look) and a raycast-based pickup/carry system in a small test room, reachable via Play from the main menu. The actual game areas (Armory, Treasury) haven't been rebuilt in 3D yet — see the repo's Issues for the current backlog.
Getting the game
Recommended: the launcher. Download ProjectAwryLauncher.exe once from
Releases (tagged launcher-vN, separate from the game's own
playtest-X.Y.Z releases), and keep it around — every time you run it, it
checks for the newest game build and downloads it automatically before
launching, so you never have to manually grab a new executable again. The
actual game files land in a game/ folder next to wherever you put the
launcher.
Direct download: if you'd rather skip the launcher, the game's own executable is still attached directly to each playtest release as before — just download and run.
Windows SmartScreen note: none of these builds are code-signed yet (that needs a paid certificate under a verified identity, not something we've set up for early playtest builds). Windows will likely show a "Windows protected your PC" warning on first run. Click More info → Run anyway — this is expected for unsigned indie builds, not a sign anything's wrong with the download.
Running from source
This repo contains two separate Godot projects:
- The game itself, rooted at the repo root — open it in Godot 4.x and run,
or use the editor's default (main scene is
scenes/menu/main_menu.tscn). - The launcher, in
launcher/— a separate Godot project (its ownproject.godot), open and run independently of the game.
