Run the area editor (tools/mapgen/web_editor) on a headless x86_64 Linux server (optibcc) with Docker Compose, instead of needing Godot installed locally.

  • Image: Debian bookworm + Python 3 + Godot 4.7.2 (official Linux build, checksum-verified; amd64 and arm64) + Xvfb/Mesa so Render preview works without a GPU or display (same approach already proven in the sandbox).
  • The repo checkout on the host is bind-mounted; the editor edits the area JSON there and the user reviews/commits/pushes themselves. No credentials in the container.
  • Listens on the LAN, no login. Runs as the host user so files written into the checkout aren't root-owned.
  • Imports the project on startup so a fresh clone (no .godot/) renders correctly.
